Why companies join F&L

F&L’s single purpose is to support its Members by utilising its neutral (independent), not for profit, non-lobby structure to access authoritative sources of information across the globe & to facilitate senior peer exchange across its highly reputable, active and international network.

Freight leaders & their teams expand their understanding and proactively choose their pathways, rather than blindly reacting to market forces.

    What members say

    • “Informed external views & sheer breadth of experience which it is not possible to organise by yourself”
    • “What stands out is how quickly peer insight can travel when perspectives from shippers, carriers, ports and platforms across regions are woven into one conversation. This is how ideas move at the speed that trade and its environment now demand. The real constraint is no longer technology, but our collective willingness to share what works, what fails and what we are prepared to change in our operating models.”
    • “Visits behind the scenes and the possibility to bring your teams. We get so many ideas for improving & also see where we’re better than we thought!”
    • “Benchmarking”
    • “Global / regional heads of logistics & supply chain, CEOs & senior management focused on freight logistics across the supply chain, asset owners, founders of critical solutions, senior policymakers shaping freight.”
    • “Balanced mix of market players contributing to & setting the agenda to cover all topics of interest.”
    • “F&L is small on purpose to protect quality of discussion.”

“Access to informed external views & sheer breadth which it is not possible to organise by yourself.”

“Here I find the connections & the interest/support to help make things happen.”

“These are people I would never usually meet & I meet every person in the room.”

“Where else can you ask questions openly and listen to others doing the same?”

    Your contract with F&L

Welcome! You are choosing to join a broad, diverse & collaborative community of senior leaders across the international freight logistics community to help you assess your company’s strategic position, collaborate with customers, partners, suppliers & others to find solutions, and to proactively adopt strategies to help you stay ahead of the curve.

Membership: F&L is for commercial senior business leaders and their teams: membership includes unlimited licenses for your colleagues because it is the company who is the member. As a not-for-profit F&L seeks only to cover its administration costs and to retain its neutral status for the benefit of Members. Any surplus funds are used to subsidise future events, visits etc for Members. The annual recurring charge for F&L membership is €2,500: we avoid increasing the membership fee which is set with longer term membership in mind. The same fee applies to all companies.

Other costs: F&L agendas are kept separate from sponsors. On a cost recovery basis, Members contribute €200 – €500 pp for in-person meetings depending on
meeting length, dinners etc. Online meetings are not charged and are generally not accessible to non-members. Travel & hotel at own cost.

Notice: As F&L is structured as a not-for-profit members’ forum, members must give notice of their intention to resign by latest September for the following calendar year.

How does F&L measure its success?

    • By the quality of the companies and people which it brings together.
    • Variety, scope & relevance of opportunity created for and with Members. Have we created successful dialogue supporting all attending Members? Are members finding support for the collaborations and initiatives they want to drive forward? Have participants learnt new information, felt challenged in their discussions and made new connections?
    • Diversity, mix, breadth and balance of its membership to create the best multi-stakeholder mix of current industry leaders.
    • Relentless focus on high quality measured by engagement.
    • Quality and level of participation of senior business leaders local to round table meetings.
    • Have we facilitated members moving towards a more economically and environmentally sustainable freight logistics sector?

Membership is likely to be capped at 150 companies so as not to lose the spirit of F&L.
